Landini Renames & Updates MISTRAL Compact Tractors With Stage V-Compliant Engines

Italian tractor manufacturer Landini is entering an updated family of MISTRAL compact tractors into production this month that feature Kohler engines compliant with EU Stage V carbon emissions regulations. The series, now called “MISTRAL2,” previously used Yanmar Tier 3 power plants. The lineup’s 2-055 and 2-060 models come in Standard and Ground Effect (GE) configurations in cab and platform versions.

    Stage V At Your Service

Argo Tractors company Landini credits Argo engineers with transitioning the MISTRAL2 tractors to Stage V engines while maintaining their same ground-to-hood height. They did so by locating the tractors’ exhaust gas treatment system on the side of the hood where it doesn’t obstruct operator visibility. The 1.9-liter, three-cylinder turbo-aftercooled Kohler engine generates 49 horsepower (36.5 kilowatts) and 133 pounds-foot (180 newton-metres) of torque at 1,200 rpm on the MISTRAL2 2-055; the 2-060 model’s engine is rated for 57 HP (42.5 kW) and 147.5 lbs-ft (200 N-m) of torque at 1,200 rpm.

Landini says the compact tractors are suitable for typical specialized farming, municipal work, ground maintenance, and general landscaping applications. They are equipped with a mechanical power shuttle transmission available in 12 forward/12 reverse or 16/16 with creeper versions. Also included is a new electronic instrument panel that draws inspiration from Landini’s REX4 lineup and an Engine Memo Switch that enables saving engine rpm configurations for later recall via a button on the right-hand console. There’s also a 10.6-gallon (40-L) fuel tank, increased 9-gallons per minute (35-liters per minute) hydraulic flow rate for rear lift and services, and dedicated 5.3-gpm (20-Lpm) steering pump.

    Cab Options

The Standard variant comes in platform and cab versions. The GE variant is only available with a platform design, which features a lowered setup well-suited for working under polytunnels, Landini notes. Argo Tractors mounts the FOPS (falling object protective system) cab on silent blocks to reduce noise and vibrations. The cab includes air conditioning, a flip-up window, radio, and ergonomic design controls.

Both tractors equip a Category 1 three-point rear lift system rated to lift up to 2,645 pounds (1,200 kilograms). An optional front-lift system available without or without a 1,000-rpm power take-off (PTO) can lift up to 880 lbs (400 kg).
