Landini Gives REX4 Tractors New Stage V-Compliant Engines, Robo-ShiftTransmission & More
Italian tractor manufacturer Landini recently outlined updates made to its tractor lineup for 2022, including the REX4 model family of specialty tractors. First on the docket was a change to new, Stage V-compliant engines with longer maintenance intervals (up from 500 hours to 1,000). The option to specify REX4 tractors with Landini’s new Robo-Shift 48+16 transmission was another significant upgrade; the transmission boasts electro-hydraulic reverse shuttle and fully automated H-M-L (high, medium, low) speed and gear shifting under load, using an ergonomic multifunction joystick.
The Improved REX4
REX4 tractors are available in 4-080, 4-090, 4-100, 4-110, and 4-120 models in flat-deck platform (F, GB, GE, and GT configurations) and Lounge cab (F, GT, S, and V configurations) variants. The F configuration is designed to work narrow-row orchards, the S is for narrow-row orchards with goblet-trained trees, the GB is for working under overhead trellis systems, the GE excels in low orchards, the GT is built for wide-row orchards, and the V is for vineyard work. All have an 84.3-inch (2,140-millimeter) wheelbase except the V, which is 86.2 in. (2,190 mm), and all are available with a Full-LED lighting system.
Cab-equipped REX4 tractors include a redesigned four-post Lounge cab with mechanical suspension, a suspended front axle, and other components designed to introduce greater operator comfort. (A suspended front axle is also available for platform variants.) The Lounge cab also has rear-hinged doors for easier ingress and egress, as well as 360-degree operator visibility. Ergonomically arranged controls and a fully adjustable driving position further enhance operator’s work environment, as do a Category 4 filtration system for protection when spraying, easier and faster front and rear implement operation, and the availability of an Advanced Driving System (ADS) that makes driving less taxing.
Meet The New Engine
The REX4’s new Stage V-compliant engines are Deutz four-cylinder, 16-valve, 2.9-liter power plants that range from 75 to 112 horsepower (56 to 82 kilowatts). Landini says the engines’ common-rail electronic injection and turbo intercooler guarantee a boost in power and torque and lower fuel consumption. The Engine Memo switch, which allows for saving and recalling an ideal engine speed, is a holdover from previous REX4 tractors.
Landini offers the REX4 with a custom chassis designed especially for use with front- and mid-mounted equipment; further flexibility comes in the form of the tractors’ open-center hydraulic circuit. In addition to a 7.9-gallons-per-minute (30-liters-per-minute) steering pump and a 15.3-gpm (58-LPM) service management pump, there’s an option for a third tandem pump with a 14.5-gpm (55-LPM) flow rate at 1,500 rpm. Growers can also add up to four rear spool valves (three mechanical and one electro-hydraulic) and three electro-hydraulic mid-mounted control valves. A fully electro-hydraulic configuration with four rear spool valves that can be combined with a mid-mounted control valve is also available.
