Read More (About Oxbo)
Oxbo is a leading manufacturer of self-propelled and pull-type harvesters and other specialty crop equipment for grapes, berries, potatoes, coffee, citrus, processed and fresh market vegetables, olives, seed corn, and forage. The niche agriculture equipment company also manufactures dump carts, harvesting heads, spreaders, sprayers, and floaters for sale.
Oxbo’s equipment includes the self-propelled Oxbo 7440 harvester for harvesting blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, as well as the 316XL pull-type grape harvester designed to accommodate tall and wide vineyard rows with its full-sized tunnel. The CP100 fresh market sweet corn harvester, meanwhile, is actually a Pixall design from 1994 that been improved over the years, while the Oxbo 7550 high-clearance sprayer (120-foot boom) is among the company’s products that’s unrelated to harvesting.
Oxbo International came together in 1998 when longtime vegetable harvester manufacturers Pixall Corp of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, and Byron Enterprises of Byron, New York, merged. Pixall had come up with a green bean harvester in 1959, whereas Byron had invented a sweet corn harvester 10 years later. Oxbo acquired Korvan Industries of Lynden, Washington, in 2004, and began to sell its vineyard and berry harvesters. In 2009, Korvan’s coffee harvester joined the Oxbo lineup, as well.
In 2011, Oxbo merged with Ploeger, another harvester manufacturer, to form the Ploeger Oxbo Group. Based in The Netherlands, Ploeger manufactured bean, pea, and spinach harvesters, and had been cooperating with Byron on distribution and technology since 1992. Ploeger had bought UK-based FMC Harvesters (now known as PMC) of Fakenham, Norfolk, in 2002. In 2013, the Ploeger Oxbo Group acquired vegetable and corn harvester manufacturer Bourgoin in Bournezeau, France. Today, besides its Ploeger UK and European factories, the group operates Oxbo manufacturing facilities in its merged companies’ hometowns in New York, Wisconsin, and Washington, as well as in Cruz Alta, Brazil.
