    Description
The parallel linkage crop dividers adapt to ground unevenness for cleaner cane and reduced losses. A wide throat and 45-degree approach angle gently handle even the heaviest cane and consistently maintain the proper orientation to the ground. The benefit is that it reduces dirt content while minimizing whole stalk losses under the crop-divider toe as the row height varies. Four-valve cylinder head Improved low-pressure fuel system 200-amp alternator increases capacity Optional high-intensity discharge lighting Key Features Comprehensive safety features deliver unmatched security Self-cleaning cooling package extends operating time Cab integrates the latest technology with unparalleled comfort Intuitive steering and propulsion system improves ergonomics High-reach topper options for every condition Parallel linkage crop dividers minimize cane loss Hydrostatic base cutter and chopper maximize efficiency and performance Extra-large, straight feedroller path reduces cane breakage Efficient cleaning system delivers cleanest cane ever Engine The four-valve cylinder head feature in the 9.0-L engine enhances performance Improved low-pressure fuel system Pistons and rods - Forged steel construction handles higher firing pressures with improved durability Cab and controls The 3520 has a variety of features to provide all-day and -night comfort and convenience, so operators feel as good at the end of a shift as they do at the start The 3520's new steering and propulsion system aligns the track and wheel platforms for ease of use and reduces training times across all models Hydraulics With unmatched 17-ft (5.2-m) topper reach, a strong boom design, and a cushion accumulator, the 3520 is capable of handling the tallest cane The parallel linkage crop dividers adapt to ground unevenness for cleaner cane and reduced losses The 3520's hydrostatic base cutters and choppers set the benchmark for cutting and feeding in the global market The feedroller path is straight and opens wide to reduce cane breakage and improve feeding to the chopper. Large, deep-paddle lower rollers improve the removal of dirt and mud. The 3520's elevator and cleaning system yields the cleanest cane in the industry while reducing components, vibration, and operating costs. Cleaner cane, less billet loss, and less downtime mean more profit. Electrical System A 200-amp alternator replaces the 140-amp predecessor on the 3520 for increased capacity Improved wiring harness construction John Deere offers optional high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting on the 3520 Sugar Cane Harvester. HID lighting has up to two and a half times the luminous flux of standard lighting, creating illumination more similar to sunlight The optional battery-remote jump-start terminals provide easy battery jump-start access from the right side engine compartment — no more searching for the engine battery and hoping the jumpers are long enough Cutting and Feeding The base cutter and chopper are on one high-pressure hydrostatic circuit driven by a powerful piston pump. This maximizes efficiency and performance Extra-large, straight feedroller path reduces cane breakage The 3520 comes standard with deep-toothed, paddled knockdown rollers that are hard surfaced. The rollers are hydraulically driven, reversible, and manually adjustable. The feedroller path on the 3520 is straight and opens wide with a minimum 8-in. clearance. The feedrollers are powered by reversible hydraulic motors. Bearings are external for serviceability and the rubber shock absorbers protect the frame. The 15-in. (381-mm) differential chopper is driven by a stout radial piston motor. The externally mounted bearings are simple to replace. The chopper shafts have no splines to wear, and they can easily slide out from the side for service. The chopper cover is ISO compliant. Elevator and Cleaning The 3520's elevator and cleaning system yields the cleanest cane in the industry while reducing components, vibration and operating costs. Cleaner cane, less billet loss and less downtime mean more profit. Ag Management Solutions Cab integrates the latest technology with unparalleled comfort Intuitive steering and propulsion system improves ergonomics Parts, Serviceability, and Support Ladders and handrails are located on both sides of the machine. Service platforms have non-skid surfacing and are surrounded by handrails for safe, walk-around access. All ladders, platforms, and handrails meet ISO standards. Warning and signal lights have been relocated to meet ISO safety regulations. Engine compartment work lights safely illuminate a technician's work area, and 10 operating lights cover the harvester for superior working visibility in low light or foggy conditions. A reverse alarm is also standard on all 3520 Sugar Cane Harvesters The forward tilting cab lockout is a rigid steel locking prop that holds the cab firmly in the up position so the engine can be safely serviced. The chassis lift cylinders can be raised and locked in the up position for safe maintenance on base cutters, knockdown rollers, scrolls, etc. The topper boom cylinder can also be safely locked with a steel lockout sleeve for safe maintenance on or below the topper head Other 3520 safety features include a standard onboard chemical fire extinguisher, the greatest cab visibility in the market, and the industry's lowest center of gravity, which reduces the risk of tipping. An externally mounted muffler shields heat from the air intake and reduces heat buildup in the engine compartment, creating a more efficient overall cooling system. The externally mounted muffler is also easier to service. The 3520 Sugar Cane Harvester's cooling package features a self-cleaning reversible cooling fan. The fan has an automatic cleaning cycle that operates without a rotary screen or blower motor. This self-cleaning design eliminates the need for regular stops to remove trash from the cooling system's air-intake surfaces, providing longer operating time throughout the season.
