New Holland recently introduced the Comfort Ride cab for its T4V and T4N vineyard tractors at SITEVI 2023 in France. SITEVI, an international exhibition for the vine, wine, fruit, and olive growing sectors, attracts 51,000 visitors from 61 countries and over 930 exhibitors, making it the perfect event for debuting the new cab.

The Comfort Ride cab will be available on all T4 specialty tractors by the end of 2024.

    New Holland’s Comfort Ride Cab

The new cab cuts vibrations by up to 60% on the road and 15% in the field with a suspension system that improves comfort and reduces fatigue for the operator.

Larger farms have become the norm, and that means more time spent in tractors. Persistent vibrations can take a toll on operators over time, causing increased fatigue and discomfort.

The Comfort Ride cab’s front-axle suspension, rear-hitch suspension, and air seat suspension work to create a smoother ride. Gradual and controlled activation of the power take-off (PTO) shaft that drives attached implements also reduces sudden jolts and vibrations.

How The Comfort Ride Suspension System Works

The cab’s suspension uses a combination of a Panhard bar, hydraulic shock absorbers, and a pneumatic cushion located at the rear of the cab. These features all stay within the tractor’s narrow 3.5-foot (1.06-meter) width.

“Comfort Ride has proven its value in larger tractors across the New Holland range, and it’s now time for vineyard operators to experience its benefits,” says New Holland’s Marco Gerbi. (Photo courtesy of CNH Industrial.)

Two hydraulic shock absorbers on each side of the rear of the cab cushion vertical movement during operation. The Panhard bar limits left and right movement to eliminate any rolling effect. The pneumatic cushion handles the height and limits forward and backward movement. Two Silentblocs at the cab’s front absorb vibration more efficiently as they work independently of the rear suspension components.

The suspension’s flexibility can be adjusted to the driver’s weight to ensure a comfortable ride. A gauge located at the rear of the cab informs when the suspension adjustment is optimized for the operator.
