Get FinancingPolaris Unveils Its Xpedition Adventure Side-By-Side Lineup For 2024
In May 2023, Polaris described its new Xpedition as an “adventure” side-by-side and the first of its kind. The 114-horsepower (85-kilowatt) UTV adds cargo space and comfort features to a capable all-terrain chassis to create an adaptable overlander that goes farther into the wilderness with a range exceeding 200 miles (322 kilometers). Two- and five-seat Xpeditions are available now in Ultimate and NorthStar trim levels, and an entry-level Premium trim version will appear in 2024.
“In light of the incredible growth of the adventure segment, we decided to dramatically change the game with a vehicle that takes no cues from predecessors and leads the way for an entirely new side-by-side experience,” says Polaris Off Road Recreation Vice President Reid Wilson. “Our goal was to bridge the worlds of traditional side-by-sides and overlanding with a vehicle that allows the most passionate adventurers to go farther and deeper than ever and discover totally new destinations and experiences.”
The Xpedition ADV & XP
The Polaris Xpedition is available in an ADV version with a fixed rear cargo box, and an XP version with a dumping box. The ADV’s longer roof fully covers its cargo box as well as its cab, and a pass-through feature provides 36 or 63 inches (914 or 1,600 millimeters) of flat storage length depending on the UTV’s 2- or 5-seat configuration. All 5-seat Xpedition models have fold-flat and/or 60/40 flip-up rear seats for convertible storage space. The ADV configuration is available in Storm Blue and Matte Orange Rust color schemes.
Meanwhile, the XP’s dumping cargo box is not covered by the vehicle’s roof. The box is 30 in. (762 mm) long and can hold a spare tire, among other things. Both Xpedition versions’ cargo boxes are 48 in. (1,219 mm) wide with 16-in. (406-mm) high side walls. Polaris offers the XP in Army Green and Matte Heavy Metal grey.
The Xpedition’s ProStar 1000 Gen 2 engine gives it a 2,000-pound (907-kilogram) towing capacity rating. The UTV has on-demand all-wheel drive and 14 in. (356 mm) of ground clearance. Polaris equips the side-by side with Pro Armor 30-in. Crawler XP tires with 15-in. (381-mm) wheels for durable traction and Fox Podium QS3 Shocks with Position Sensitive Spiral technology for passenger comfort.
Trim Levels
The entry-level trim package for the Polaris Xpedition is the Premium, scheduled for 2024. The base model will include a 4.3-in. JBL color display, a Trail Pro 2000 audio system, and a 660-watt stator charging system. A bumper will come standard along with a Polaris HD 4,500-lb (2041-kg) winch.
The Xpedition’s Ultimate trim level—available now—builds on the Premium’s features with a 7-in. touchscreen display featuring the Ride Command GPS and trail network navigation system. An upgraded JBL Trail Pro 4100 surround sound audio system is included along with a 400-W amplifier and a 10-in. (254-mm) subwoofer. The Ultimate boasts front and rear cameras, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, a padded console, and an auto-stop winch. A 900-W stator charging system supports more power-hungry accessories.
The NorthStar trim level, also available now, adds a few firsts in the sport UTV category, according to Polaris. Foremost is a fully enclosed cab and a heating and air conditioning system with adjustable control modes and zone controls. Full, locking doors and power windows almost make one forget that the Xpedition is a utility vehicle, not an SUV. The NorthStar also has a tip-out glass windshield and the Ride Command+ vehicle health monitoring system.
Optional Features
The Xpedition’s flat roof supports a rooftop tent accessory as well as various roof racks and equipment holders. The UTV is compatible with Polaris’ new Lock & Ride Max cargo system, and the manufacturer offers curated collections of accessories available in Overland, Kayak, Trail, Hunt, and Utility packages. The Polaris Pulse electrical system makes it simple to install light bars, a heater kit, and other electrical accessories.
The Pro Shield Cab System option gives the Xpedition an enclosed, tightly sealed cabin space akin to that of an automobile. For snow removal applications, Polaris says the UTV makes it a cinch to add its Glacier Pro HD plow option.
