Landini Mistral2 Tractor Combines Versatility, Efficiency & A Compact Footprint

    Posted On: July 6, 2022

The Landini Mistral2 is an efficient, compact tractor that can take on a wide range of tasks and is now Stage V-compliant. (Photo courtesy of Landini.)

The multitasking Landini Mistral2 was already an efficient, compact tractor designed for maximum flexibility and maneuverability, but thanks to Landini’s recent addition of a Stage V-compliant Kohler engine, the tractor is also even more eco-friendly. The Mistral2 is as well-suited for use in horticulture, pergola trellis cultivations, orchards, vineyards, and greenhouses as it is for maintaining public greens, plowing snow, spreading salt, or maintaining turf.

    Vital Statistics

The compact tractor has the lowest minimum bonnet height in its category at 48.4 inches (1,230 millimeters) from the ground for the STD version and 44.5 in. (1,130 mm) for the GE. The Mistral2’s 70.5-in. (1,790-mm) wheelbase and reduced turning radius allow the tractor to use the entire field surface, which reduces time and fuel consumption. The tractors’ new Kohler KDI 1903 TCR engines with turbo aftercooler are rated for 49 and 57 horsepower (36 and 42 kilowatts), respectively, and generate 133 and 147.5 pounds-foot (180 and 200 newton-metres) of maximum torque. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system, the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) ensure full Stage V compliance. Optimized fuel consumption is provided by the Engine Memo Switch, which memorizes and recalls engine speed for a particular task to simplify and speed up operation.

    Transmission & Hydraulics

The Mistral2 is also equipped with Landini’s Speed Four transmission, with four synchronized gears and up to four mechanical ranges if the optional Creeper is added. The gearbox has a synchronized mechanical reverse shuttle with steering wheel-mounted lever for easy reach. The hydraulic system is equipped with two tandem pumps. The rear lift and hydraulic service pump has a flow rate of 9.2 gallons (35 liters) per minute and the steering pump has a flow rate of 5.2 gpm (20 LPM). The system can have as many as three spool valves: two standard and one floating. There are two speed options for the rear mechanical PTO (540 and 540E rpm) and a synchronized forward speed.

The Mistral2 is available in both FOPS-approved cab and platform variants like the one shown above. (Photo courtesy of Landini.)

Landini offers the Mistral2 in platform and cab variants. The cab is falling object protection system (FOPS)-approved with a tapered windshield, air conditioning, and front and rear lights. The platform’s shape and profile enable it to easily work between the lowest and narrowest rows, and its ergonomic design helps keep operators comfortable.
