Kawasaki has added a new midsize MULE PRO-MX SE special-edition UTV to its 2022 side-by-side lineup. Swathed in Galaxy Silver and special-edition graphics, the two-passenger vehicle combines rugged good looks with the strength to handle any number of tasks you might throw at it on farms, ranches, golf courses, landscaping sites, or other jobsites. With various steel-constructed components, a 3,000-pound (1,360-kilogram) factory-installed winch with remote control, 1,500 lbs (680 kg) of towing capacity, and a tilting cargo bed that can haul 700 lbs of tools and/or materials, the PRO-MX SE is ready to go to work.

Business In The Front—And The Back

From front to back, the MULE PRO-MX SE is built to take on rugged terrain and conditions with its steel front bumper, steel cargo screen, diamond plate steel floorboards and cargo bed, and cast-aluminum wheels shod in 25-inch (63.5-centimeter) radial tires. The side-by-side provides a sun top for shade between jobs and doors to keep out mud and water. At night, two high-visibility halogen headlights and two LED headlights will keep pathways and work areas well lit.

The gas-assisted tilting cargo bed is 33.4 inches long by 44.1 in. wide by 9.1 in. high (84.8 by 112 by 23.1 centimeters), and includes built-in divider slots, six tie-down hooks, and bed rails designed to make it easy and quick to install KQR accessory mounts. You can tuck tools, food, drinks, and other supplies safely away in 2.4-gallon (9.1-liter) under-hood and 1.4-gal (5.3-L) under-seat storage areas. There’s also a lockable glovebox and built-in drink holders, trays, and pockets. A 12-volt DC power outlet is included to charge mobile devices.

In addition to a factory-installed 3,000-pound winch with remote control, the MULE PRO-MX SE has a titling cargo bed that can haul up to 700 pounds to help you get the job done. (Photo courtesy of Kawasaki.)

The MULE PRO-MX SE Up Close

The MULE PRO-MX SE is powered by a single-cylinder, 695-cc four-stroke engine that delivers 42.7 pounds-foot (57.9 newton-meters) of torque at 5,000 rpm. The side-by-side has a continuously variable transmission with an inline shifter, as well as speed-sensitive electric power steering, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and independent front and rear double-wishbone suspensions with twin-tube shocks. The front suspension has 8.6 in. (21.8 cm) of travel, and the rear suspension 9.1 in.

The interior includes a contoured bench seat with anti-clinch, three-point seatbelts. The dashboard’s multifunction LCD provides speedometer, fuel, odometer, clock, and dual trip displays, as well as 2WD/4WD, water temperature, EPS, and seatbelt indicators.
