New Holland Construction recently debuted its newest rough-terrain forklift at the 2022 World Ag Expo in Tulare, California. The F50C is designed for the needs of specialty crop producers with vineyards, orchards, and other fruit- and vegetable-growing operations. Equipped with a standard, automatic load control system and an integrated hydraulic produce bin clamp, the new forklift was engineered for efficiency and easy operation.

“Our dealers and customers know and trust that New Holland keeps fruit and vegetable producers at the forefront of our design and engineering, and we are excited to enter this new market,” says New Holland Construction Director Tyler Mills. “Productivity-enhancing features are especially valuable when harvesting time-sensitive crops, and we expect the F50C to be right at home in orchards and vineyards.”

    Easy Does It

The F50C is fitted with a 12-foot (3.66-meter) mast with a 5,000-pound (2,268-kilogram) lift capacity. Its automatic load control feature cushions the mast’s movements under load when the machine is traveling, effectively reducing spillage of the fragile cargo on the move. The hydraulic bin clamp safely secures multiple produce bins so they can be transported simultaneously.

The four-wheel-drive, rough-terrain lift truck’s standard features include a 4x4 power shuttle transmission, a differential lock, and ground clearance of 10 inches (254 millimeters). All of these, as well as a high-clearance counterweight, help the F50C traverse the terrain of vineyards, orchards, and other specialty crop environments. The lift also has crop shielding and an LED lighting package.

    Simple Maintenance

The F50C has a 74-horsepower (55-kilowatt), 3.4-liter FPT diesel engine that meets emissions standards without diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) or a diesel particulate filter (DPF). New Holland says its service and regeneration intervals are 600 hours.

“We wanted to simplify the maintenance required for the F50C, and we did just that,” Mills says. “Our goal is to keep it running to reduce shop time and downtime spent on maintenance.”
